      Japanese encephalitis vaccination

      The vaccine against Japanese encephalitis is safe and effective.

      Vaccination schedule

      • The vaccination schedule consists of two doses with a four-week interval. If there is not enough time, the interval can be shortened to one week for adults between 18 and 65 years old.

      • Revaccination takes place after 12 to 24 months.

      • Children from 2 months to 3 years old receive half a dose.

      Duration of protection

      The duration of protection after the third dose is at least ten years.

      When is Japanese encephalitis vaccination recommended?

      • If you often stay in a high-risk area or for a longer period of time.

      • If in a risk area you often stay outdoors in the countryside in the evening.
